Class 10- Year 4

Welcome to Class 10!

Class teacher: Miss Hind

Teaching Assistant: Mrs McRitchie & Miss Foster

Welcome to the adventures of Class 10. Our Summer term topics this year will take us on an interesting but gruesome crime and punishment adventure. We will begin the topic exploring Roman methods of crime and punishment and journey through the ages to Modern day. We will investigate similarities and differences in the methods of crime and punishment and explore change, continuity, cause and consequence.

In Summer term two, we will be swept away on a wild topic of natural disasters and extreme weather. We will explore how extreme weather conditions such as storms and drought impact river processes and landscapes.

We will use a range of books as inspiration for our writing. For example, ‘Sherlock Holmes The Blue Carbuncle’ retold for children by Mark Williams, ‘FLOOD’ the beautiful picture book by Alvaro F. Villa and Escape from Pompeii by Christina Balit.

We will be exploring different texts including, diary entries, newspaper articles, narratives and many more! We are also going to be working hard to improve our reading fluency and comprehension skills.

This term in maths, we will be working on building our times table fluency and speed in preparation for our Multiplication Tables Check.  We will be analysing data and working with money, time, shapes and angles.

In Science, we will be learning about sound and electricity. In RE we will be looking at what happened when ‘Jesus left’. We will also be studying how other believers show commitment in different religions. We are very excited to explore painting with water colours in Art and to grow fruit, design and create packaging in DT.

We are continuing with our guitar lessons on a Thursday morning and have PE twice a week.

Year 4 will also be going to Robinwood this term- we are so excited!

Every day we are learning and growing together- we are increasing in confidence, independence and self-belief as we progress through Year 4. After all, our class motto is- if you can dream it, you can do it!
