Welcome to Class 3!
In Class 3 the children have been working incredibly hard since returning to school after the Christmas holiday.
We are very excited and engaged in our new topic ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, where we have been learning all about the plants and animals of the rainforest. We have used iPads to research and find exciting animal facts to help us create a jaguar fact file, which was really fun! We have also found out lots of new things and enjoyed sharing our facts with each other. We have recently found out about a jaguar sighting in Wynyard! We are looking forward to creating some amazing jungle-inspired news reports to tell everyone all about our exciting experience!
We have been using ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ in class and at home to improve our knowledge and understanding of our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
In Class 3, we have been working incredibly hard to perfect our letter formation and presentation. Our handwriting has really improved and we are very proud of ourselves. We thoroughly enjoy sharing our work with our friends and other members of our school.
As part of our rainforest inspired topic, we will be learning about animals including humans in science as well as beginning to classify animals. As part of our history curriculum, we will be developing our understanding of changes within our living memory based particularly around inspirational athletes and sports personalities. We loved learning all about Usain Bolt, and can’t believe he ate 1000 chicken nuggets during the Beijing Olympics!
We will be looking at measurement in Maths and will be focussing particularly upon weight, capacity and mass as well as beginning to tell the time to the hour and half past.
Very soon, we will be working with a specialist to plan, design and evaluate a mini beast hotel! We are looking forward to seeing which minibeasts come to stay with us!
We can’t wait to work our socks off and enjoy another busy and fun filled term in Year One.
