Class 4 is a very friendly and happy place where we all try our best and learn new things in fun and exciting ways. Our Teacher is Mrs Uttley and we are lucky enough to work with Miss Wade for some of our lessons too.
We learn in lots of different ways, sometimes in pairs or groups but because we are getting a bit older now, we are trying hard to develop our independence too. Children in class 4 are encouraged to take part in evaluating their own work along with the Teacher and peer and self-assessing to see what they have done well and what they need to do to improve.
This year we will be learning how to join our writing and to help us we will practise in school as much as we can.
This term the children in Class 4 will be learning about hot and cold places around the world. They will be using maps and atlases to locate continents and oceans and will be looking at climate in different countries depending on their position in relation to the equator. Children have expressed a real interest in how night and day occurs and are fascinated by the fact that when it is day time here, it is night time in Australia. We will investigate this further by watching videos, reading information texts and using models of the Earth, Moon and Sun.
We will look more closely at life in Africa and Antarctica and how it compares to our life here in England.
We will be writing non-fiction texts in English related to our topic including reports and explanation texts.

What’s been happening in Class 4?
Over the past couple of weeks in Class 4, we have been working hard with our descriptive writing and have been ordering and partitioning 2 and 3 digit numbers in different ways. In Science, we started to look at materials and after sorting a group of materials in class, began to discuss the suitability of materials for their purpose.
