Class 4 is a very friendly and happy place where we all try our best and learn new things in fun and exciting ways. Our Teacher is Mrs Uttley and we are lucky enough to work with Miss Wade for some of our lessons too.
We learn in lots of different ways, sometimes in pairs or groups but because we are getting a bit older now, we are trying hard to develop our independence too. Children in class 4 are encouraged to take part in evaluating their own work along with the Teacher and peer and self-assessing to see what they have done well and what they need to do to improve.
This year we will be learning how to join our writing and to help us we will practise in school as much as we can.
This term the children in Class 4 will be learning about Important people from the past (VIPs). They will be learning about Florence Nightingale and why she is still remembered today and will also be finding out about famous inventors and how their inventions have changed our lives. Children will then be given the opportunity to create an invention of their own and we will hold a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style afternoon where they have to work in groups to convince others to invest in their idea.
We will be looking at traditional tales including Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and the tale of The Ugly Duckling. We will also be exploring a range of poetry.

What’s been happening in Class 4?
We had a great time on our Forest School Day! We made dens in the woods and even learnt how to safely light a fire, before toasting marshmallows on it.
Over the past couple of weeks in Class 4, we have been working hard with our descriptive writing and have been ordering and partitioning 2 and 3 digit numbers in different ways. In Science, we started to look at materials and after sorting a group of materials in class, began to discuss the suitability of materials for their purpose.
