Welcome to Class 5!
The children in Class 5 have been working their socks off since they came back to school after the Summer holidays! Our class teacher is Mrs Uttley and we are lucky enough to have Miss Jones to work with some of the time too.
This year, we will continue to use ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ in class and at home to improve our knowledge of the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables in a fun and engaging way. The children absolutely love it and it is really helping them to build their fluency in multiplication!
This term, our topic is ‘The wonderful world of Roald Dahl’ and we will be reading and writing in a range of genres based on the stories of ‘The Twits,’ ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and a little bit of ‘The Witches.’ In History, we will be learning about the Titanic disaster including what the ship looked like inside, who was on board and what happened to cause it to sink.
We will be looking at place value, addition and subtraction, shape and measure in Maths and will be linking it to our work in different subjects to make it real-life. We will be using lots of reasoning and problem-solving activities to encourage a deeper understanding of all we do.
As you can see, we have a very busy term ahead in Year 2 with lots of exciting things planned!
