Welcome to Class 5!
We love to learn in Class 5!
Our classroom is a very friendly and happy place where we all try our best and learn new things in fun and exciting ways. Our Teacher is Mrs Uttley and we are lucky enough to work with Miss Jones and Mrs Hall for some of our lessons too.
We learn in lots of different ways, sometimes in pairs or groups but because we are getting a bit older now, we are trying hard to develop our independence too. Children in class 5 are encouraged to take part in evaluating their own work along with the Teacher, peer and self-assessing to see what they have done well and what they need to do to improve.
This year we will be learning how to join our writing and to help us we will practice in school as much as we can.
This term our topic is ‘The Wonderful World of Roald Dahl’ and we will be basing our work on the stories of ‘The Twits’, ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and ‘The Witches.’ We will have lots of wonderful and stimulating writing opportunities and will also be linking our work in Maths to these texts in order to put Mathematical concepts in context.
We will be looking at reasoning in Maths, explaining how we know that our answers are correct and giving examples to prove it.
