Welcome to Class 7!
In Class 7, our motto is “the sky is no limit to what we can do” because we aim high in whatever we are doing!
Our teacher is Mr Waller who enjoys planning lots of exciting learning activities and opportunities for the Year 4 and Year 5 children at Wynyard Church of England Primary School. Mr Dixon also teaches us for some of our lessons.
In the Autumn term, we took part in the Generation Beyond STEM challenge to design a habitation module for a space station. We also visited the Beamish open air museum to take part in a “Traditions of Christmas” day.
We have also been using the 3D printer to design our own trains and space shuttles. We are looking forward to using the printer this term.
Our topic for the spring term is “Extreme Environments” through Mount Everest and space. We began our project by visiting the Locomotion museum to see Tim Peake’s Soyuz capsule.
In English and Geography, we are enjoying learning about the harsh environment of Mount Everest. We have started to make our own field guide for the Himalayas and will soon be interviewing an explorer who has climbed to the summit of Mount Everest. We’re excited about writing our own stories about encountering the elusive yeti!
In Mathematics, we are focusing on developing our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages for most of this term. This includes concepts such as mixed numbers and improper fractions.
In RE, we are learning about the Christian church and are looking forward to learning about the different denominations of Christianity.
We have also started blogging over at:
