Welcome to Class 10!
Class teacher: Miss Hind
Teaching Assistant: Mrs McRitchie & Miss Foster
Welcome to the adventures of Class 10. Our Spring term topic this year will take us on a historical adventure where we will learn about the interesting changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age and Iron Age.
So far, we have explored ancient artefacts linked to hunter gatherers and learnt about how the chronology of Prehistoric Britain compares to the history of the wider world, specifically- the Ancient Egyptian civilisation which we studied in the Autumn term. There is lots to explore within this amazing topic and soon we will be learning about UK settlements and land use. We will study the incredible Stone Age settlement Skara Brae and the Maidenhead Iron Age hill fort and explore what the remains tell us about life in Prehistoric Britain.
This term we will be reading ‘The Wild Way Home’ by Sophie Kirtley. Her wonderful novel will inspire the writing of a diary entry, a playscript, an advert and a setting description.
In maths, we are focusing on fractions, decimals, money and time. All the way through this year, we will be practising our times tables a lot!
In RE, we are focusing on the question, ‘]What kind of world did Jesus want?’
In Science, we will be exploring states of matter and the water cycle through lots of exciting scientific experiments and investigations.
In PSHE, we will be developing our awareness and understanding of mental health and wellbeing and in PE we will be developing skills in tennis and basketball.
In Art and DT, we will exploring cave art through printing and making a Stone Age tool using pneumatics, levers and linkages.
Every day we are learning and growing together- we are increasing in confidence, independence, and self-belief as we progress in Year 4. After all, our class motto is- if you can dream it, you can do it!
Now back to Prehistoric Britain!
