Class 11- Year 5

Welcome to Class 11!

Class teacher: Miss Taylor

Teaching Assistant: Miss Gibson

Welcome to Year 5! During Spring term, we have started to explore Maya throughout History and English lessons. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading our new text ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell. This story has inspired Class 11 to write an adventure narrative story, an informal diary entry and even poetry! We have enjoyed learning about the main characters (Fred, Max, Con and Lila) and joining them on the adventures they face during their time in the Amazon Rainforest! Class 11 are looking forward to building more links between History and English as we explore this topic.

I have been extremely impressed by Class 11’s determination and resilience during recent Maths lessons as we continue to explore fractions. We have tackled a range of tricky reasoning and problem-solving questions this term and will continue to develop our confidence when answering a range of questions when looking at decimals and percentages.

In Science, we have explored properties and changes of materials. We have enjoyed completing investigations and experiments into the properties of a range of different materials.

In R.E, we are learning, ‘what did Jesus do to save human beings?’ leading up to Easter. In French, we look forward to exploring our new topic, Les Vetements, and building our understanding of French cognates. By following our Core Christian Values and school rules, Class 11 make our classroom a safe, happy, and enjoyable place to be. We enjoy each day working with Class 11 and can’t wait for our upcoming residential trip to London!
