Welcome to Class 11!
Class teacher: Mr Waller
Teaching Assistants: Miss Robinson, Miss Gibson & Miss Menezes
We have had a great start to Year 5 and have already produced some fantastic work.
Our topic this term is ‘The Victorians’. We have looked at many of the inventions that were created in this era and produced our own presentations to share with the class.
In English, we have been reading ‘Mary Poppins’ by E.L. Travers and have wrote letters to persuade Mary to be our own nanny. Let’s hope she responds!
In Maths, we have focused on place value and have ordered and compared numbers to a million. We have also looked at reading and writing numbers in words.
We are looking forward to our first school trip of the year to Beamish, where we will have a chance to compare our school day to that of a Victorian child. We have lots of exciting things planned for the rest of the year and we look forward to updating you on our progress.

What’s been happening in Class 11?
We have had our first visit to forest school where we built our own shelters. We then used a watering can to test their strength. Fortunately, our shelters were stable enough to withstand the water!
