Welcome to Class 5!
Class teacher: Mrs Uttley
Teaching Assistants: Miss Wade, Miss Jones & Miss Jackson
Our topic in Class 5 this term is ‘VIPs- Famous people of the past.’ During this topic, children will learn about Florence Nightingale and why she is still remembered today. They will also be learning about famous inventors and their inventions and will have the opportunity to take part in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ type project in which the children will become inventors themselves.
In English we will be learning about the Antarctic and then will move on to traditional tales such as Snow White and the Ugly Duckling. In Maths we will be exploring shape, including symmetry and will be looking at money including paying for items and calculating the amount of change needed. We will then be consolidating our knowledge in all aspects of Year 2 Maths, looking at more complex reasoning and problem-solving activities.
In Science we will be learning about different animal groups e.g. mammals, reptiles etc and will be able to sort animals into the relevant groups, according to their characteristics. We will also be looking at animal adaptations and how they are well suited to living in their particular habitat.
We have lots of fun things to learn about this term, we can’t wait to get started!
