Welcome to Class 7!
Class teacher: Mrs Beattie
Teaching Assistant: Miss Robinson
The children in Class 7 have settled brilliantly into Year 3 and are making a fantastic start to the school year! We are extremely pleased with the way they have adapted so well to our new procedures in the classroom and around wider school. We would like to thank everyone for their patience, help and understanding in adjusting to the measures in place in school to keep us all safe.
Our class topic this term is the Rainforests! The topic is Geography based and the children will begin by exploring the different layers of the rainforest and look closely at deforestation. As part of our topic the children will also study the work of the artist Henri Rousseau and create their own rainforest paintings and drawings using a range of media. They will complete various non-fiction English tasks linked to the ‘Great Kapok Tree’ by Lynne Cherry and write their very own versions of the story! We will work on developing our inference and deduction skills during shared reading sessions.
Place value will be our focus in Maths this half term. The children will take part in a wide range of Maths activities and tasks and develop their reasoning and problem solving skills. The children will also work on continuing to learn their times tables and will concentrate on recapping X2, X5 and X10 tables. Later this half term we will be introducing the 3 and 4 times tables and corresponding division facts. Times Tables Rockstars is an excellent resource to use at home to support this.
In Science sessions our main focus will be on plants. We will work as a whole class and in small groups to take part in a variety of interesting investigations and experiments linked to growing and caring for plants.
Our class homework will be sent out each Friday via our school eSchools site. The children will be issued with homework books to work in at home. We are very excited to see uploads of all their fantastic work!
We look forward to a busy, productive and superb term ahead in Year 3!
