Welcome to Class 7!
Class Teacher: Mrs Beattie
Teaching Assistant: Miss Robinson
Our topic this half term in Year 3 is Rivers. The children will be exploring rivers in the UK and examining features of rivers and identifying parts of the river system. We will also be using Ipads and the school library to research information about rivers around the world.
Children will study the work of the UK artist David Hockney and create their own paintings and drawings inspired by his work.
In Science sessions, our focus is on movement and growth. Children will work as a whole class and in small groups to take part in a variety of investigations, challenges and experiments linked to animals, skeletons and nutrition.
During our English lessons, pupils will be writing their own ‘battle cry’ using Ipads, film clips and props to film their final pieces of work. The children will continue to work on developing their inference and deduction skills during our reading sessions.
Capacity and weight will be the main focus in maths. The children will use practical equipment and resources to develop their skills and understand in this area. Knowledge of properties of shape are to be developed and children will continue to work on the four operations and improve their problem solving and reasoning skills further.
Gymnastics and outdoor athletics will be the main areas of activity in PE this half term. Pupils will explore different key moves and develop their teamwork and co-operation skills.
