Welcome to Class 9!
Children in Class 9 are in Year 5 and are taught by Mr Waller. Mrs O’Connell also helps us in our lessons.
This term our topic is “Alternate Realities” and we have enjoyed learning about “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” by J.K. Rowling. We wrote balanced argument texts about the basilisk and will move onto writing our own stories set in alternate realities. We are looking forward to learning about other texts this term including “Howl’s Moving Castle”, “Macbeth” and “Jurassic Park.”
In mathematics, we are working hard to develop our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages before moving onto geometry concepts.
In history and geography, we have been learning about the features of London in preparation for our residential visit in June. We are also looking forward to visiting the Teesmouth Field Centre when we start our study on rivers and the coast.
In Science, we have been exploring “Materials” and the ways in which different materials are used. We will then move onto looking at “Living Things and their Habitats” through a wildlife study and will work with the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust to build bird boxes.
In RE, we have started to look at pilgrimage and what this means for believers of different faiths.
