Welcome to Nursery!
Class teacher: Miss McCabe
Teaching Assistants: Miss Wyatt & Miss Woods
Nursery is a fun and exciting place to learn. We spend our days being engineers, artists, actors, mathematicians, writers and inventors amongst lots of other things. Most of our learning is through play, where the adults in Nursery support and extend children’s learning following their own interests. We do have some focussed carpet time and small group activities, especially to help develop children’s phonic and maths skills.
This half-term our topic is ‘Where in the World is Wynston?’. Each week, we are learning about a different country based on the fictional travels of our school lion, Wynston. Some of the countries he will be visiting include, France, China, Italy, Mexico and Kenya. We have some fantastic activities planned including pizza making, dragon dancing and food tasting. Next half-term, our topic will be ‘Superheroes!’- a topic we know the children will love. This topic will link lots to our school STEAM focus with lots of explorations of scientific concepts such as magnetism, floating, freezing and melting.

What’s been happening in Nursery?
The children are engrossed in our new topic, ‘Where in the World is Wynston?’, and have amazed us with the development of their knowledge and skills. We practised our maths skills using adding and taking away passengers from a London bus; explored and recreated the work of Matisse; and enjoyed trying French food at snack time.
Children have had great fun exploring their new Nursery!
