Welcome to Nursery!
Class teacher: Miss McCabe
Teaching Assistants: Miss Wyatt & Miss Woods
This term, for many of our children, is their final term in Nursery before they start full time in Reception with us. As ever, the children are working incredibly hard and they constantly amaze us with their curiosity and interest in all areas of learning.
As ever, Nursery is an exciting place to play and learn, and is always a hive of activity. This term, we will be spending time preparing our children for their transition to Reception, following some of the routines in our Reception classes to prepare them for September.
Some of our favourite activities are messy play, listening to stories and PE sessions with Ollie!
Our topics this term are Minibeasts, where we will be learning all about minibeasts and their habitats. In the second half of the term, our topic is Pirates and Under the Sea, a topic I know children will love. We will be hunting for treasure; making treasure maps; learning all about the creatures that live under the sea; and investigating floating and sinking.

What’s been happening in Nursery?
Recently in Nursery, we have been measuring ‘worms’, playing parachute games, practising our phonic skills and having lots of fun outside.
After reading the story of The Gingerbread Man, we made our very own gingerbread men and cooked them in the oven of the STEAM room. When we returned though, the gingerbread men were gone! The children had lots of amazing theories about where they had gone and we hunted around school for them. Thankfully, we did find them and had lots of fun decorating them.
We have settled brilliantly into Nursery and are making lots of new friends!
