Will you be your class or even the school spelling champion?
Once again this year, we will be holding our fantastic Wynyard Spelling Bee! Last year’s event was fantastic and we couldn’t believe how well children could recall the spellings- it took us a long time to find our winner.
The Spelling Bee will begin with class heats taking place from Monday 29th April with the final on Friday 3rd May.
During the Easter holidays, we would like children to learn the spellings for their year group, which are available in the links below.
During the spelling bee, children will be given a word from their list, followed by a sentence placing it in context and then the word will be repeated. They should then try and spell the word, clearly saying each letter. If they spell the word correctly, they remain in the spelling bee, continuing to spell words until we find our spelling champions.
Everyone who takes part will receive a certificate and there is a trophy for the spelling champion in each class as well as a Grand prize for our overall Spelling Bee champion!
The children are all very excited about taking part!
(Please note, Years 1 and 2 should try to learn the words for both year groups. Year 1 will be given Year 1 words first and then words from the Year 2 list, if necessary).
