Nursery

Welcome to Nursery!

Class teacher: Mrs Smith and Mrs Hunter

Teaching Assistants: Miss Wyatt and Mrs Fairweather

Since starting with us in September, our Nursery children have continued to learn so much! They are always incredibly busy in the different areas of the classroom and outdoors, using the provision to support their play and learning. As well as that, they enjoy weekly PE sessions with Olly.

This half-term, our topic is ‘Life Cycles of Living Things’. Children have already enjoyed exploring life cycles of hens and butterflies. We are very excited for the arrival of some caterpillars this week. The children will enjoy watching our caterpillars build chrysalises and then hatch into butterflies. When we look at the life cycle of plants, the children will have the opportunity to plant their own sunflower seeds, take care of them and observe them as they grow.

Children’s phonics skills are progressing so rapidly and they have developed their oral blending skills through ‘Fred Talk’. They continue to learn a different sound each week, practise their letter formation and match words with the same initial sound.

In maths, we are continuously embedding a deeper understanding of numbers to 5 and beginning to explore some numbers to 10.

Next half-term our topic is ‘Traditional Tales’ and we will have lots of fun reading and exploring activities linked to some well-known fairy tales such as, Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Three Little Pigs and more.
