Welcome to Class 8!
Class teacher: Miss Highfield
Teaching Assistant: Miss Robinson
We have loved being back in school and it has been fantastic to see all our friends and teachers. We are trying our best to keep ourselves and our classmates safe.
We have transitioned smoothly into KS2 and we are working hard to build on our knowledge and confidence across all areas of the curriculum. We have some very exciting things planned this term and we will be trying our best in class and of course having lots of fun along the way too. Our class teacher is Miss Highfield and our teaching assistant is Miss Robinson.
This term our topic is ‘The Rainforest’.
By October half term, we will be able to describe the different layers of the rainforest and locate different rainforests around the world using a map.
Our writing in English will be based on Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories and we will also be reading the great Kapok Tree by Lynee Cherry.
In maths we are currently looking at the place value of 3-digit numbers and have completed different fluency and reasoning/ problem solving tasks linked to this.
We will also be completing lots of scientific enquiries and learning based on plants during our science lessons.
In Art, we will be studying and basing our work on the French artist Henri Rousseau.
In PE, we are looking forward to creating a rainforest dance that will involve all of Class 8.
In RE, we have started to look at Creation and we will be thinking about the key question ‘What do Christian’s learn from the Creation story?’
