Collective Worship
At Wynyard Church of England Primary School, collective worship is rooted in the principles and practices of the Church of England and is a legal requirement. In line with the Education Reform Act 1988, all schools are required to provide a daily act of collective worship that is broadly Christian in nature. This worship may take place at any point during the school day and can be delivered in various group settings—such as the whole school, key stages, or individual classes.

Our collective worship policy reinforces the Christian identity of our school, reflects the values of Wynyard Church of England Primary School, and highlights the important role each child plays within our community. Worship draws on the diverse traditions within the Church of England and follows the Christian liturgical calendar.
Daily worship is a central part of our school’s ethos, fully supported by staff and governors. It plays a vital role in the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of our entire school community.
We work closely with Reverends Mark and Emily Hudghton from our local church – Vine Church Wynyard – but also have visitors from other local churches and denominations who come into school to lead collective worship and explore Christianity as a diverse and living faith.
Worship is a special time in school where we come together to learn about the Big Story of the Bible, our values and celebrate being part of our school and church family.
