At Wynyard Church of England Primary School, our distinctive Christian ethos is the foundation of everything we do. Inspired by our vision of “Growing Together in Life in All Its Fullness” (John 10:10), we seek to provide an environment where all children can thrive — academically, spiritually, and emotionally.
Rooted in Christian values, we aim to be a place of love, wisdom, and inclusion, where every member of our school community is nurtured, valued, and supported. We welcome children and families of all faiths and none, recognising and celebrating the rich diversity within our community.
We are passionate about creating an inclusive and respectful culture in which all children are accepted for who they are. We encourage them to embrace differences and show compassion, empathy, and respect for others. At Wynyard, every child is supported to grow into an independent, resilient, and reflective learner through a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that meets individual needs.

Our vision is to develop confident, compassionate and high-achieving learners who live out strong moral values and contribute positively to the world around them. Through a culture shaped by Christian teachings, we aim to support each child in becoming the best version of themselves — intellectually, spiritually, socially, and emotionally.
Our Christian Ethos
As part of the Diocese of Durham’s family of schools, Wynyard Church of England Primary School is deeply rooted in the Christian tradition. We are dedicated to nurturing the whole child — mind, body, and spirit — and to helping pupils understand their place in the wider world as compassionate and active citizens.
Our core Christian values guide all aspects of school life:

A School at the Heart of the Community
The only school on the Wynyard Estate, our school serves as a centre of community connection in the local area. We aim to be central to the life of our community, working closely with families, churches, and local organisations to ensure the wellbeing of every child and also positively impacting the lives of the wider Wynyard community.
Vine Church Wynyard’s services take place in our school hall and a number of local community groups use our facilities. This includes Wynyard Village Football Club, who have have incorporated our school values into their club values and even had our values handprint printed on the back of their shirts. We recently welcomed some of the coaches from Wynyard Village FC into school to talk about the link between our school values and vision and the football club.
